What does WHMIS mean? What are the risks associated with improper handling of hazardous materials?

WHMIS stands for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. WHMIS 2015 training is mandatory for workers who handle hazardous products. Its overall objective is to enable participants to answer the following four questions, among others: What hazards do products present? How can I protect myself against these hazards? What to do in an emergency? Where can I obtain further information? With WHMIS 2015 now harmonized with the GHS (Globally Harmonized System), workers will be aware of the new hazard classes and categories, as well as the new WHMIS 2015 pictograms, labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).
