At Lussier, the integrity of information and data transmitted over the Internet, by email and telephone, as well as the protection of personal information, is taken very seriously. Respecting the private lives of our clients and prospective clients is an important part of our commitment to offering the highest quality service. Furthermore, the firm’s representatives are bound by a duty of confidentiality by their code of ethics.
As subject to federal and provincial laws governing the protection of personal information, notably the Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and Canada’s anti-spam legislation (C-28), Lussier is firmly committed to protecting information provided to us by our clients and prospective clients and to ensure their rights are respected by any means necessary.
Definition of personnal information
Personal information is defined as any information which relates to a natural person and allows that person to be identified, directly or indirectly.
Collection and use of information
Personal information collected by Lussier is confidential: only personnel authorized to follow up on requests can access this information. The client-file only contains information necessary for us to:
- Proceed, at any moment, with a complete analysis of coverage needs;
- Initiate a quote for the requested product(s) or service(s);
- Issue an insurance policy to this effect, if applicable.
Google Analytics information gathering
Anonymous and confidential information is collected via Google Analytics to analyze traffic on our website (www.lussier.co). Lussier uses this data solely for the purpose of improving the quality of services and information provided on the website.
File information
Lussier strives to keep the information on file accurate, complete and up to date. Should an individual wish to verify the exactness of his information or modify it, he may contact the Confidentiality and Privacy Officer identified in section 11.
Should that Officer notice an error despite our utmost care, Lussier will correct it at soon as possible and notify the individual consequently.
Client consent
Lussier cannot collect information without the consent of a client or prospective client.
Quotes and telephone transactions
When Lussier analyzes coverage needs, determines a quote, offers a service or an insurance contract over the phone:
- It is understood that our interlocutor gives us his consent and that he has also obtained the consent of all interested persons or persons mentioned in the insurance quote or contract that concerns him or her personally. This consent includes the collection, conservation, use and communication of their personal information for the purposes set out.
- According to the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, if the quote or contract concerns another person than the interlocutor, at all times our broker will make sure to obtain the consent directly from the person concerned by the transaction.
For reasons of information integrity, training and customer service quality control, telephone conversations may be recorded or monitored.
Concerning the use of email addresses, Lussier established anti-spam policy ensures that our representatives request consent in a detailed and structured way.
Online quotes
When a client or prospective client completes and sends a quote form for different products via www.lussier.co, the client or prospective client:
- Automatically agrees that Lussier use his personal information to analyze his coverage needs and prepare an insurance quote for the requested product;
- Authorizes a Lussier broker to communicate with him by telephone, email or other means to discuss his file, provide him with the requested insurance quote and promote Lussier’s products and services;
- Understands that his email address will be used in accordance with Lussier’s anti-spam policy, which means once, if necessary, and always in response to his request;
- Understands that, always in virtue of Lussier’s anti-spam policy, during a telephone call with the broker, he may confirm or withdraw consent for the subsequent use of his email address.
Subscribing and unsubscribing online
At any moment and in accordance with Lussier’s anti-spam policy, the client or prospective client can confirm or withdraw consent to use his email address via our subscribing and unsubscribing online web page, or by contacting a Lussier broker.
Protection of privacy
Lussier takes several measures to protect personal information:
- Information must never be made public or sold or communicated to a third party without the consent of the client, except to ensure the service to which the client is subscribed, to comply with a court order, or in response to an authorized government agency.
Occasionally, Lussier may need to collect or transmit information concerning our clients and prospective clients for organizations or companies that are legally regulated and have the legitimate right to request or transmit this information. These organizations or companies depend on the financial products or services and the province where you live. These can be:
- insurance brokers or claims adjusters;
- insurers, reinsurers and financial institutions or regulatory bodies;
- the Automobile Claims Database and the Société d’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) or the equivalent in another province;
- data analysis firms regarding credit, risks and claims;
- etc.
In all cases, Lussier will make every effort to ensure that the right to confidentiality is respected.
Transmission of information by electronic mail
Lussier cannot be held responsible for any damages caused due to the interception, loss or modification of any email sent to us.
When clients and prospective clients send information by email, the transmission is not secure. Lussier recommends caution when sending messages by email (ex: policy number or personal information, etc.).

In this capacity, the Officer sees to it that the firm’s employees and representatives are familiar with the statement of the policy and trained toward its proper application.
In accordance with the law, the Officer is obliged to create, keep and update a register of confidentiality incidents. A copy of the register must be sent to the Commission d'accès à l'information at its request.
